Last month I had to opportunity to participate in Covenant House’s Stage And Screen Sleep Out to raise money for a new center here in New York for homeless youth. Last week I saw the culmination of those efforts with a ground breaking ceremony, and the launching of the Take Notice campaign. One in 10 youth experience homelessness in the United States. 33,000 youth experience homelessness in NYC each year. 19% of youth without homes are survivors of human trafficking. 29% of youth at Covenant House New York identify as LGBTQ. All across New York City, people are taking notice. Covenant House has been serving New York City's most vulnerable youth for 47 years. By starting from the ground up, are designing a program that's centered around their needs and gives them all the services and support they need to achieve independence – all under one roof. They are inviting all community members and advocates for youth facing homelessness to #takenoticenyc and take action. Let’s build a better future for our city’s youth. It is time to Take Notice, NYC! Video credit: Dennis Donovan
